The Starling will incorporate numerous green design elements, such as solar photovoltaic panels, a solar thermal system, low VOC paints, drought-resistant landscaping, high-efficiency fixtures, Energy Star appliances and more. It has 70 units in one four-story building, dedicated to families and individuals, including 21 that will be set aside for unhoused people. The Starling (formerly known as Alameda Point Family) is another new construction project that is part of the redevelopment of the former Naval Air Station in Alameda.
